These Haircuts Look Amazing in Pictures—But Not So Much in Real Life

We all find cool hair photos online and want that look right away. Most of the time it is just a trick. These popular styles look great on your phone but they are a mess in real life. You will struggle to fix your hair every morning. What looks good in a picture usually feels like a total disaster when you go outside.

The Super Blunt Bob

This cut looks so sharp and chic in photos but if you have even a little bit of natural texture it turns into a puffy triangle instantly. You will be flat ironing this constantly just to keep it from looking frizzy and weird and that heat damage adds up fast.

Pastel And Vivid Colors

Those pretty pinks and blues fade after two washes and then you are left with a muddy color that looks dry and dull. It requires so much bleach to get the color to stick that your hair might end up feeling like straw afterwards which is barely manageable.

The Trendy Wet Look

In editorial photos it looks high fashion but in person it honestly just looks like you forgot to shower for a week or got caught in the rain. It feels crunchy and sticky to the touch and ruins your pillowcases if you don’t wash it out before bed.

Long Heavy Extensions

They look glamorous until you try to sleep or shower and realize your head feels like it weighs fifty pounds. The maintenance is incredibly expensive and they can pull on your real hair causing damage and bald spots if you aren’t careful.

Curtain Bangs

They frame the face perfectly in a selfie but in real life they fall in your eyes constantly and get greasy way faster than the rest of your hair. You have to style them with a round brush every single morning or they just hang there limply like sad curtains.

The Modern Shag

This cut relies on messy texture that takes a lot of product to achieve or else it just looks unkempt and messy in a bad way. If you don’t style it right with the proper sprays you might end up looking like you have an accidental mullet.

Intricate Braided Styles

Those complex braids take hours to do and usually start getting fuzzy and loose after just one day of wearing them around. Taking them out is a whole other headache that takes forever and your arms will be so tired by the end of it.

Super Slick High Ponytail

It gives you an instant facelift but it also gives you a massive headache after wearing it for barely an hour. It pulls your hairline back so tight that it can actually cause hair loss over time which is definitely not worth the look.

Asymmetrical Pixie Cuts

It looks edgy and cool until you decide to grow it out and realize one side is inches longer than the other. The awkward growing out phase lasts for months and is hard to hide unless you just cut it all off again.

Pin Straight Cher Hair

Unless your hair is naturally straight you will be fighting humidity every time you step outside and it will puff up immediately. It shows every single split end and bit of damage so you have to keep it perfectly healthy or it looks fried.
